About the VPMA

The Virginia Podiatric Medical Association (VPMA) is a professional membership organization, representing and advocating the interests of actively practicing doctors of podiatry in the Commonwealth. The VPMA is the state component of the American Podiatric Medical Association.

Founded in 1912, the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA) is the leading resource for foot and ankle health information. Currently, the organization represents a vast majority of the estimated 15,000 licensed podiatrists in the country. The APMA continues to advance the growth and stability of podiatric medicine by increasing nationwide awareness of foot and ankle health through public education and legislative advocacy.

The mission of the APMA – and thus the VPMA – is to advance and advocate for the profession of podiatric medicine and surgery for the benefit of its members and the public. The VPMA is the state component of the American Podiatric Medical Association.

VPMA is vested in your success as a podiatric physician. We act as a single voice for Virginia podiatrists to ensure the highest quality of medical and surgical foot and ankle care through advocacy, education, and public awareness.

We accomplish this goal by:

  • Preserving, Protecting, and Advancing Podiatry: VPMA is the voice of podiatry in Virginia and represents your interests in conversations with legislators, regulators, policymakers, and decision makers who shape healthcare policy.
  • Keeping You Connected: VPMA provides networking and continuing education opportunities through our Annual Conference. Our suite of educational offerings, coupled with our monthly digital newsletters, will keep you up to speed on the latest insurance, coding, and regulatory trends in podiatry.
  • Leadership Opportunities: There are many opportunities to become active in Committees and serve on the VPMA Board of Directors.

If you are interested in these opportunities, please feel free to contact any member of the Board or send us a message via the contact us page of our website.
